I found the article "Online Class on How To Teach Online Classes Goes Laughably Awry" as a nice continuation on the topic of MOOCs. For a moment, consider the online higher-education platform called Coursera. History has shown that big things can be smited rather quickly due to rushing and not taking time to dot Ts and cross Is. This is true with Coursera just by reading the opening line of the article. "In the span of a week, an online course on how to teach online courses turned into a master class in how not to." But it is more than just keeping the ratio of learners to instructors in check. Careful planning of where to deploy elements must be considered. In fact a careful balance must be maintained because online learners can quickly become frustrated and discouraged in courses. I have been in such classes before. Having to spend time hunting for rubrics and syllabus information causes distractions that in turn distrupts my learning. Such are limitations created by learning management systems.
