Tutorial: Locking content in Adobe Captivate 4

Thinking back to some of my first projects in elearning development created entirely in Microsoft PowerPoint; I am grateful everytime I sit in front of a computer with development software that overtime evolved efficiently. In the following tutorial I found on WWW.CPGURU.COM, an old question was answered. You will always find learners who will try to skip ahead because they feel they have already mastered the content or they did not plan ahead for sufficient time to take the course. The end result are individuals who "spam" the next button and hardly look at the content. Advanced features of Adobe Captivate give the developer the power to answer those questions by using variables. With proper programming, a developer can prevent spamming and force the learner to stop and smell the eRoses. My favorite application is locking content until prerequisites are met within the course. Such as completion of all section quizzes before the final course exam becomes available. With working in Healthcare, there has to exist training documentation that can be requested by state and federal surveyors. Going to such extremes by using variables to lock/unlock content in an Adobe Captivate project will provide surveyors and administration clear completion statistics when generating reports and transcripts for learners who have taken one of my courses.
